rei·ki /ˈrākē/ noun
-
a practiced technique in which a Reiki Master directs healing energy into the client by means of touch to activate the natural healing and restore physical and emotional well-being.
How does Reiki work?
Reiki allows your body to rest and recover from the stresses of daily life by teaching your body to return to a natural state of relaxation. Once in this state, your body is able to heal any damage brought on by stress, injury, or disease: By helping a person to experience deep relaxation, Reiki enhances and accelerates our own natural healing process.
Reiki sessions build upon each other; the more sessions you have, the more your body is able to fully release what it needs to promote healing. Having Reiki sessions on a regular basis can shift you from trying to heal what the stress and tension have caused, to actually living daily in a healthy relaxed body. Your body can transform to a state of not just being "ok" but really thriving.
Your new reality will be one of vitality and happiness as your body accomplishes more than you thought possible. It can add years to your life.

What takes place in a
Reiki session?
In a Reiki session, the client remains fully clothed and will relax on a massage table. The Reiki Master will gently touch or place hands above the body in a series of hand positions, causing the mind, body and spirit to release stress, anxiety, pain, restlessness, depression, etc. This experience promotes relaxation and balance throughout every cell of your body and fiber of your being.

Is Reiki part of a religion?
No, Reiki is not practiced as part of any specific religion or certain faith group. Though, Reiki can be an emotional and spiritual experience.
Our emotions are experienced in our bodies, minds and spiritual beings. That's why grief or fear can cause digestive upset, no appetite, overeating, tears and/ or headaches. Anxiety can bring racing thoughts, high blood pressure, panic or anxiety attacks. The feelings of happiness and glee can create laughter, a racing heart, flushness in our skin and produce healing endorphins. Reiki evens out and promotes alignment and refreshment in our physical, emotional and spiritual selves so that our body/mind/emotions are working in harmony with each other.
As a Board Certified Chaplain, Cat has experience in a vast amount of beliefs systems and traditions. If you would like, she is able to incorporate your belief system into the session beautifully, to create a more personal and effective experience.

How do I pick a Reiki practitioner?
A Reiki Master's rate is typically based on their level of experience, education and effectiveness. An important part of Reiki is the "attunement" of the Reiki Master. The healing energy is not coming from the Reiki Master themselves, it is coming through the Reiki Master.
This healing energy is that which most people call "God" or "Higher Power" or "Love" or "Universe."
When looking for a Reiki Master, it is a good idea to choose someone you trust has a deep connection with "God" (or whatever has meaning to you) for the energy that heals
and offers perfect health.
